The QuickTime Settings
Now that you have told iMovie that you wish to work in QuickTime, a box appears that allows you to choose a format for your edited video. Click the popup menu next to Formats and you will see that your choices are:

iMovie offers a range of preset formats for your work.

• E-mail Movie, Small: Creates a small 160 by 120 pixel movie with a mono soundtrack. This is one of the options we will use in this article.
• Web Movie, Small: Creates a small 240 by 180 pixel movie with a stereo soundtrack. This is the other option we will use in this article.
• Streaming Web Movie, Small: Creates a small 240 by 180 pixel movie with a stereo soundtrack. A better choice if you have access to a QuickTime streaming server.
• CD-ROM Movie, Medium: Creates a larger 320 by 240 pixel that can be placed on a CD-ROM. This is a great option if you have a lot of video and decide to mail it. But, of course, you will need a CD-ROM burner to make the discs.
• Full Quality, Large: Creates a full screen version of your edited video. Not practical for streaming but, as you will find out in the following article, it does have its uses.
• Expert…: All of the previous settings make choices. Using the Expert option allows you to go in and manually make those choices. You can get better streaming video this way but it's beyond the scope of this series.
