"Open Source" Music
mH2O.com's community platform is founded on the concept of "open source music." In open source music, the individual tracks and samples (i.e. the bass, vocals, drums) that make up a composition are accessible and freely shared. Beyond music creation and collaboration, mH2O.com provides a wide variety of free streaming and MP3 downloadable music, a web-based sample library, online copyright services, music showcase competitions and a unique music search engine.

Real Music is Child's Play
mH2O.com offers a "virtual music studio" designed to accommodate a broad range of users, from novices to professional musicians. The Virtual Studio provides an interaction with sound that is more visually intuitive than composing in traditional notation. Members compose music by "painting" samples (represented graphically as sound waves) as easily as one edits text in a word processor. It utilizes ACID 2.0, a sample-based sequencer that enables users to layer and mix MP3 audio tracks graphically, and also provides SoundForge XP, the standard for audio sampling, editing and production.

Easy to use, Easy (and inexpensive) to join
Anyone can visit the mH2O.com website and listen to music. To use the Virtual Studio and upload and download MP3 music, guests register online to receive the free mH2O.com CD-ROM. The CD-ROM, with a variety of software, includes a free two-week trial membership. Following the trial period, members can choose to pay $3.99 per month or $29.99 a year for the complete suite of mH2O.com's services.

Every user can create music using mH2O.com's sample library and by recording themselves live. mH2O.com's online sample library contains a selection of pre-recorded samples, produced by both mH2O.com members and well-known artists. Two hundred and fifty professional samples are included with membership, and others are available for purchase and download in customizable bundles. Samples created by members are free. Members can also record live by plugging their instrument or microphone directly into the soundcard of their computer.

The mH2O.com CD-ROM offers a customizable interface for navigation throughout the mH2O.com website using the latest Flash and "skins" technology. The CD-ROM also includes open-track songs, a sample library, chat, member homepages, instant messaging with audio capabilities, multimedia educational resources, copyrighting, audio mastering, CD-burning, multimedia broadcasts, and online auction and retail of music and computer equipment.

Artist Empowerment
mH2O.com offers StarTracks, where aspiring artists' music demos are posted online, based on selection by top musicians and industry professionals in each genre, in weekly competitions. Both mH2O.com members and visitors determine the winner by voting online for their favorite songs in any musical genre. The artists compete for prizes, broadcasts, additional exposure, and the chance to be signed to mH2O.com's label, where artists receive a major portion of the revenue generated by the sale of their music.
